Three DAWs. Three Different Jobs. “The best tool is the one that disappears while you work.” The biggest mistake is choosing a DAW because someone called it “the industry standard.” Or because your favourite producer uses it. Or because it comes with the most plugins. Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live can all record, edit, mix, and finish professional music. But they were shaped by different priorities. Pro Tools thinks like a recording studio. Logic thinks like a songwriter’s complete production room. Ableton Live thinks like an instrument. The best DAW is not the one with the longest feature…

Flame Sound is offering Analogue Drums, a $39 collection of analog drum machine samples, as a free download for BPB readers until Sunday, August 2nd (23:59 CEST). Yesterday, I released VATRA, the first Flame Sound plugin, and it’s been a huge deal for me after almost two years of development. To celebrate VATRA finally being live, I wanted to thank everyone on BPB with an exclusive freebie from Flame Sound. Analogue Drums is the perfect choice because, of course, we all love punchy drum sounds, but it also has some pretty cool processed hits you won’t find in other drum…

LØ has released Fragile Violins Free, a free violin sample library for Decent Sampler. This one was released in June, but I somehow missed it, so a big thank you to BPB reader Eat More Candy for sharing it with our community. I would have missed it otherwise, and that would have been a shame because Fragile Violins Free is simply fantastic. One thing to know upfront is that this is the free version, and it gives you one articulation. But what is included sounds so good and looks so polished that it still feels like an easy recommendation if…

Musical Entropy has released Voyage Voyage, a free shimmer reverb and drone instrument for macOS, Windows, and Linux. This is another addition to the series of articles where I check out my favorite KVR Developer Challenge 2026 entries. We already covered Sucrose, Chance, and Gneiss, and Voyage Voyage is another one I really liked. I am always on the search for fun reverb and delay plugins for sound design, and this one is simply fantastic for my workflow. The shimmer side works great for making lush sounds, while the Chaos control is amazing for making everything sound more dramatic. Voyage…

ArnieWaves has released AudioTeleporter, a DAW plugin for streaming your mix to a remote listener through a browser link. We have covered a few remote collaboration and monitoring tools before, including Ginger Audio Authentic Audio and Audiomovers Omnibus. AudioTeleporter is in a similar world, but the big draw here is the free tier and the much lower monthly pricing. I also like the simplicity. You basically put AudioTeleporter on your master bus, a stem, or any bus you want to send, press start, choose the streaming quality, and copy the listener link. The other person opens it in a browser,…

Flame Sound has released VATRA, a mix finisher and loudness enhancer plugin for Windows and macOS. The intro price of $39 is available until August 16. As many of you already know, Flame Sound is my cinematic sound label. VATRA comes after almost two years of development, with countless iterations in the meantime. I’ll write a longer separate article about the design and development process, but in short: I’ve spent fifteen years on BPB reviewing plugins, literally thousands of them. And here’s the situation I kept running into countless times. The mix sounds fine on its own, but next to…

Greer Studios Presents has released Signature Delay, a free delay plugin and standalone app for Windows. We have covered a couple of interesting free delay plugins on BPB lately, including FRCTL Audio DLAY Lite and Trebless Tesseract Echo, so there’s definitely no shortage of freeware delays. Signature Delay is a relatively simpler one (although it still has some interesting cards up its sleeve), but still worth a look if you want a free delay with several flavors. First off, I like that it has multiple delay modes, so there is some variety to get out of it. You get Digital,…

Remo De Vico has released LOOM, a free browser instrument for extreme time stretching, textures, pads, and drones. Time stretching is a lot of fun. I use it for cinematic sound design all the time, mainly for turning everyday sounds into otherworldly textures and ambient drones. LOOM makes that process even more fun by adding Drift and a built-in reverb to the stretching engine. You can really build some crazy stuff with this, especially if you like slow-moving layers and stretched-out background atmospheres. I need to point this clearly, though: LOOM is not a plugin. It is a browser-based HTML…

Acon Digital has released Multiply 2, a major update to its free chorus effect plugin for macOS and Windows. Acon Digital shipped the update earlier today, and I checked it out right away. Multiply has long been one of my favorite free chorus plugins, and this new version is even better than before. If you already use Multiply, this is absolutely worth downloading right away. And if you are simply looking for a dependable free chorus plugin for your DAW, Multiply 2 should be high on your list. We already included Multiply in our best free chorus plugins roundup, where…
