SoundMorph is retiring the original standalone TimeFlux software, which is now available for $9 until July 31, down from its regular $149 price.
I just received an email from SoundMorph about the retirement deal, and it’s both great news and sad news. After July 31, the original standalone TimeFlux will be removed from the SoundMorph store permanently, but on the bright side, it’s available for only $9 before it retires.
Also, TimeFlux is standalone software, not a VST or AU plugin, so it’s not something you can open in your DAW.
But even if you do not need the software itself, I think the included 3.6 GB sound library makes this deal worth checking out. SoundMorph and Ivo Ivanov of Glitchmachines created the included sounds, and these are some amazing cinematic effects that can also work well in music production.
For the price, I think this is an absolute steal if you are into sound design, cinematic textures, trailer effects, transitions, drones, futuristic machines, and the stranger end of experimental audio.
TimeFlux is useful for stretching, pitching, filtering, and morphing sounds into new textures. You can load your own audio, create eight processing snapshots, and move between them using the Sphere controller. The movement between snapshots basically becomes a performance, which you can record and export as a WAV file.
The software includes two time-stretching engines, a dedicated morphing engine, four filters, and support for up to four sound files. It can also host up to four VST plugins inside TimeFlux, which opens the door to more complex processing chains before you record the final performance.
You can load sounds into the morpher, convert them into spectral files, scrub through time and pitch with an XY pad, and then morph between different saved states around the TimeFlux orb. The two stretcher slots handle regular audio files, while the morpher section leans more into spectral movement and sound transformation.
Of course, that’s awesome if you’re into sound design for film, game audio, and trailer work, but I would not limit it to those areas. If you make ambient, industrial, experimental electronic music, cinematic intros, breakdowns, or ambient layers, TimeFlux could still be very useful.
The main catch is that this is the final chance to buy the original standalone version. SoundMorph says it will only be available through July 31, and after that it will no longer be sold.
TimeFlux runs as standalone software for macOS and Windows. It includes the original TimeFlux application, the Sphere controller, WAV performance recording/export, and the 3.6 GB TimeFlux sound-design library.
