Sonniss is offering Pinball Machines, a vintage pinball machine sound effects library by C. A. Sound, Inc, as a free download until July 22.
I love Sonniss as a platform. There is a great variety of sounds to choose from, and the company occasionally releases some fantastic freebies, too.
The big one is usually the annual Game Developers Conference bundle. Sonniss has been giving away GDC game audio packs for years, and the archive now includes a massive amount of royalty-free sound effects from previous releases. Earlier this year, Sonniss also released the free GDC 2026 Game Audio Bundle, with 7.47 GB of sounds.
This Pinball Machines library is much smaller, of course, but it is a very specific and useful one if you need arcade-style mechanical sounds.
The pack includes 210 recordings captured from three vintage pinball machines: Bankshot, El Dorado, and Hurdy Gurdy. These are real machine recordings, not just synthesized pinball sounds or emulator samples, so you get the actual mechanical character of the hardware.
The library covers isolated elements and longer gameplay recordings. You get flipper snaps, ball rolls, plunger launches, coin drops, ball bounces, gobble hole sounds, interior mechanical noises, and extended game sequences.
Those longer gameplay takes should be handy for arcade ambiance, game audio, animation, or any scene that needs some authentic pinball machine sounds in the background.
My favorite, though, are the isolated sounds that could also be useful as raw material for sound design, especially if you like layering metallic hits, springs, and small mechanical movements into percussion or UI effects.
The recordings were captured at 96 kHz / 24-bit in mono, with embedded metadata. The full download is 380 MB and runs for around 23 minutes.
As with other Sonniss libraries, the sounds are royalty-free forever after download. The product page lists the regular price as $40, but it is currently marked down to $0 until July 22.
