OBLIK Audio has released Oblik, a free open beta reverb plugin for Windows.
What I appreciate right away is that “oblik” means shape in my language, too. Not everyone will catch the wordplay, probably, but it was clear to me from the start, and it fits the plugin’s idea perfectly.
Oblik is built around a really cool idea. What if a reverb room did not have to stay symmetrical, and if it could change its shape?
Instead of only changing size, decay, and damping, Oblik lets you deform the room shape itself, point that asymmetry in a specific direction, and rotate it in sync with your track. The idea is to make the reverb space move and bend, not just sit behind the dry signal as a static tail.
The project comes from Mustafa Orhan, a 20-year-old student from Turkey, and this is his first plugin. He says the idea goes back to his early days learning music production in FL Studio, where the visual room in Fruity Reeverb 2 made him wonder why he could not bend the walls in real time.
That eventually led him to create Oblik, an asymmetric reverb based on non-linear room geometry bending and a dedicated modulation engine. Mustafa says the DSP is designed to keep the wet signal pitch-stable while the room moves, avoiding the Doppler-style detuning that can happen when simulated spaces are modulated in real time.
The main controls are Asym Amount, Angle, Orbit Rate, and Orbit Depth. Asym Amount pushes the room out of round, Angle chooses the direction of the lean, Orbit Rate sets the tempo-synced sweep speed, and Orbit Depth controls how far the room moves around that position.
There is also a browser demo on the website, which I thought was pretty cool. OBLIK Audio says it uses the same 8-line FDN engine ported to run in the browser, while the plugin adds the full control set, including size, decay, damping, width, pre-delay, ducking, decay EQ, and more.
I also asked the developer for more details about the development. Mustafa says he used AI extensively as a coding companion and technical research assistant, but the core DSP idea, mathematical logic, listening decisions, and creative direction are his.
Oblik is completely free during the open beta, with no sign-up, trial period, or locked features. You can also use it in released tracks commercially. The current beta is available as a Windows VST3 plugin, with macOS and other formats in development.
