I was thrilled when Safari Audio offered this kind of bundle instead of a fixed pack because it lets you skip the stuff you know you will not use. If you already have enough delays, you can pick their compressors, saturation, reverbs, or whatever your plugin folder is missing.
You do not need to pick the same ten I would pick, of course, but Fox Echo Chorus, Rhino Reverb, Sun Bear, and Gorilla Drive are the ones that stand out to me.
Fox Echo Chorus is a tape echo and chorus plugin inspired by classic tape machines. It has three tape head modes, a wet/dry Blend control, Input Drive, Auto Gain, and an adjustable noise circuit based on samples from the original hardware.
It is the obvious pick if you want chorus, delay, and a bit of vintage movement in one plugin.
Rhino Reverb is Safari Audio’s take on old HiFi spring reverb amplifier units from the 1960s and 1970s, and I use it a lot for adding a subtle vibe to digital instruments.
It keeps the controls simple, with Blend, a tonal filter slider, and Width for stereo spread. I highly recommend this one for guitars, keys, drums, and anything digital that benefits from a slightly imperfect spring reverb tone.
Sun Bear is a bus compressor aimed at mix bus and mastering duties. It includes Tape and Tube saturation modes, Mid/Side processing, a sidechain filter, Gravity Mode, a clipper, Auto Gain, and Wild Mode, making it one of the more feature-packed choices in the lineup.
Gorilla Drive is the most straightforward of my picks. It is a germanium-style preamp and overdrive plugin with Input Drive, Output Trim, Blend, Auto Gain, and a Tone Tilt control for shifting the overall frequency balance darker or brighter.
The full selection also includes other Safari plugins like Hawk Phaser, Time Machine, Yak Delay, Rabbit Tape, Dragon EQ, Cobra Fuzz, Zebra Clipper, Bull Sub Machine, Falcon Air EQ, Hippie Elephant, and The Herd, so there is enough variety to build a mixing bundle, a sound design bundle, or something more focused on character effects.
At the time of writing, several individual Safari plugins I checked are listed around the $39 to $49 range, so $89 for ten plugins works out much cheaper if you were already interested in multiple titles from the lineup.
Safari Audio plugins work on macOS with VST3, AU, and AAX support, and on Windows 64-bit with VST3 and AAX support. They require macOS 10.15 or later, Windows 8 or later, and serial-number activation after checkout, with each license available on up to 3 computers.
