AudioThing has released an update to its faithful Space Echo plugin emulation. Version 2.2 of the Outer Space vintage tape echo effect plugin comes a new mix knob, 5 new presets, improvement GUI elements, and an issue with the pan behavior has been fixed.
As the original unit, Outer Space features a tape echo section with three playback heads and two spring reverb tanks.
We have modelled three different tape frequency responses and saturations, along with all the analog imperfections of tape recording/playback. We have also modelled the ballistic response of the delay rate (repeat rate) which can create eerie pitch shifts (due to the Doppler effect), one of the classic tape echo-based sound effects.
Outer Space 2 for Windows, macOS and Linux (VST/VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP) is currently on sale for 39 EUR/USD (regular 69 EUR/USD). Additionally, customers who purchase 3 plugins get the cheapest one for free until September 15th, 2025.
