A&R Session and Book Talk with RuthAnne (JoJo, Britney Spears, One Direction)
Grammy and BRIT-nominated songwriter RuthAnne is coming to pointblank for an exclusive talk on her new book, ‘It’s Not Just a Song’, followed by an intimate A&R session. She’s written for JoJo (“Too Little Too Late”), Britney Spears, One Direction, Niall Horan and more, and has over 12 billion streams on her songs. The book pulls back the curtain on how songwriting really works, with stories and interviews from world-class writers like Amy Allen and Emily Warren. pointblank Student Ambassador
We’re looking for enthusiastic students to represent our community and connect with future learners. As a Student Ambassador, you’ll help at open days, school fairs, and campus events, share your university experience, and support key projects throughout the year; with full training provided.
It’s a great way to build confidence, develop communication and event skills, and make a real impact on prospective students. Apply by 17 November.
Abbey Road Amplify
15 Free Tickets
We’re excited to team up with Abbey Road Amplify to offer 15 complimentary tickets for pointblank students to attend one session at this year’s festival. Since launching in 2021, Abbey Road Amplify has become a must-attend event celebrating creativity and innovation in music. Expect masterclasses, interactive sessions, workshops, Q&As, and live performances featuring some of the biggest names and organisations in the industry; from Universal Music Group and Spotify to TikTok, The Ivors Academy, and Mix with the Masters.

Ditto X: Meet the Music Industry
100 free passes exclusively for pointblank students
We’re also giving away 100 free passes for students to attend Ditto X, returning to The O₂ Arena, London, on 20 November 2025. This full-day event is packed with panels, workshops, interviews, networking, and feedback sessions featuring experts from across the music industry.
Our very own Ski Oakenfull will take the stage for a live track deconstruction of Joe Smooth’s Promised Land in Ableton Live, breaking down and rebuilding this iconic house anthem. Now in its fifth year, Ditto X has hosted industry leaders from BBC Radio, Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and ITV Studios, alongside artists like Krept & Konan, Myles Smith, and Central Cee. Open Mic Night with Grammy Award Winner Phil Ramocon
If you’re more about performing, come out to our Open Mic Night with Grammy Award winner Phil Ramocon. It runs on alternate Wednesdays at The Stag’s Head, it’s free entry, and it’s open to singers, songwriters and live acts. You just turn up and sign up between 6 and 7 PM, then the show starts at 7:30 PM. Phil is a Grammy-winning pianist, performer and pointblank lecturer with 25+ years in the industry, known for co-writing Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance,” and for working with Gregory Isaacs, Neneh Cherry, Jimmy Cliff, Marianne Faithfull and even touring with Bob Marley. This is very much “get on the mic and be heard,” not “wait six months for a showcase.” For more information click here.
Mixing Demonstration Session with Jacques Jenkins
Join Jacques Jenkins, Art of Mixing lecturer, for a live online session demonstrating real-world industry mixing techniques. He’ll mix a student’s track in real time, sharing creative approaches, workflow tips, and ideas you can apply directly to your own productions. You’ll gain practical insight into how professionals shape balance, space, and tone in a mix, with opportunities to ask questions throughout.
The workshop is open to all students. Whether you’re new to mixing or looking to refine your craft, this is a chance to learn from an experienced industry expert and hear how your peers’ music is transformed in the mix. You can submit your song and book your place here.
