Meek Mill is making major noise on social media again, this time teasing new music in a very strange way and calling out what he described as “hip hop music scamming.”
On Monday, the Philly rapper took to X to let fans know he’s in go mode again in response to a tweet that ranked him No. 5 in the list of rappers with the biggest monthly audience on YouTube. Instead of saying he has new music on the way, Meek expressed the sentiment in his own unique fashion.
“And I’m about to drop a heavy load!!!!” Meek posted, suggesting a major release is on the horizon.
He also shared a screenshot of what he said were his streaming numbers, boasting over 2.4 billion views in the last 28 days, which was a staggering 2,767% increase from the previous period.
“Shout out to everyone playing my music in their content!” he wrote. “Everything aligning right! Make sure you use my new and old music. I own all the new but I still promo the old music because it laid the ground for me!”
Meek’s message bothered some fans, who have become weary of the rapper’s frequent outbursts.
Meek wasn’t done there. He also aired out his frustrations about the current state of the hip-hop industry.
According to Meek, something has to be done about all the “scamming” that’s happening within hip-hop. He said, without specifics, that the efforts were “manipulated from out the country.”
“They have to put a stop to hip hop music scamming … it’s overshadowing the real artist. That’s why everybody saying music corny … it’s been fully manipulated,” said Meek. “Seems like it’s manipulated from out the country. I been studying music since a child!”
The “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper closed out his rant by noting the influence he has among athletes, writing, “Somebody told me they asked 100 athletes who their most influential artist [was]… like 95% was Meek Milly.I was undermined for a second but ima always catch up!!!!”
He continued, “Moral of the story I will prevail to another level!”
