50 Cent fired back at Zohran Mamdani after the New York City mayoral hopeful name-dropped the rapper while pitching a tax hike on millionaires during a recent radio interview.
During a stop on “The Breakfast Club” earlier this month, Mamdani laid out his plan to raise taxes on corporations and the top 1% of earners in the city.
“Corporations that are making millions of dollars, not in revenue, but in profit,” he said. “The second is taxing the top 1% of New Yorkers. We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more, taxing them just by a flat 2% tax increase.”
Then came the jab aimed at the Hip-Hop mogul. “And I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this. He tends to not like this tax policy,” Mamdani added.
The G-Unit boss didn’t let that slide. On Instagram, 50 Cent posted a clip of Mamdani’s comments.
“Where did he come from. Whose friend is this?” he captioned the post. “I’m not feeling this plan no. I will give him $258,750 and a first class one way ticket away from NY. I’m telling Trump what he said too !”

The post quickly racked up thousands of comments, with a few agreeing with 50’s take but many others pushing back.
“I must be broke because all I hear is him helping the middle lower class. Everybody in the comment is complaining must be a millionaire,” one user wrote.
Another added, “50 you didn’t do s### for NYC. Don’t be mad at someone who did.”
“He’s actually fighting for all you broke n##### in the chat. Do your research on him,” someone else chimed in.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist and current state assemblyman, pulled off a major upset earlier this week by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor.
With 93% of precincts reporting, Mamdani led with 44% of the vote, while Cuomo trailed at 36%. Cuomo conceded, saying, “Tonight belongs to him.”
If Mamdani wins in November, he will become the first Muslim and Indian American to serve as mayor of New York City.
His campaign has focused on sweeping progressive reforms, including free public transit, universal childcare, rent freezes in subsidized housing, city-run grocery stores and a higher minimum wage — all funded by increased taxes on the wealthy.
The general election is scheduled for November 5.
