Young Thug didn’t put up much of a fight over Akademiks’ criticism of his fixation on rappers snitching.
Earlier this week, Thug shared a tweet in which he suggested that rappers who were “rats” should “just go gospel twin,” and it didn’t take long for fans to assume he was referring to his former YSL collaborator, Gunna. One of those people was Akademiks, who chimed in on the matter on X.
In a tweet, Akademiks said someone should tell Young Thug that “he’s the last rapper on earth who cares who SNITCHING.” According to Ak, most of these rappers are “telling,” and those who are doing so are releasing the best music, and that fans “don’t give af.” In response, Thug partially agreed with Ak and stated that the only difference is that these rappers aren’t making good music.
“That’s actually crazy but true, except the making the best music part,” Thug tweeted.

Thug’s ire toward snitches has only amped up since his release. In April, Thugger unleashed “Money on Money” featuring his Atlanta brother Future, and he reflected on people cooperating with the authorities.
“These fuck n***as tellin’ for nothin’, and I gotta be the one callin’ ‘em friends,” Thugger raps on “Money on Money,” later rapping, “Brother, you a rat (My brother),” followed by “Twin, you a rat, you smoked, uh.”
Fans believed Thug was talking about Gunna, and that thought became even stronger when he was asked about his relationship with his “Ski” collaborator in a recent interview, to which he said, “Yeah, I know. Everybody wondering that. I don’t know.”
