W. A. Production is offering its Vocal Compressor plugin for free in collaboration with Gearspace for a limited time.
This isn’t a new release. Vocal Compressor is a previously paid plugin that usually sells for $39.90, now available at no cost for just a few more days. Its sibling Vocal Limiter was free a while ago on BPB, so here’s your chance to add another W. A. Production vocal processor to your collection.

As the name implies, Vocal Compressor is designed specifically for vocal processing. It uses a streamlined three-stage compression chain to help your vocal tracks sit better in the mix. The plugin includes Peaks, Balance, and Flavour stages, each handling a different part of the dynamic shaping process.
The first stage, Peaks, is where you tame unwanted volume spikes. This stage works with a hard knee to smooth out the loudest parts of the vocal, making it easier to shape in the following stages. It’s transparent and does its job even with minimal adjustments, which I always appreciate in a compressor.
Next up is the Balance section, which acts as a parallel compressor. It boosts quieter parts of the performance without flattening the louder transients.
With a relatively extreme threshold setting, this section helps achieve a more controlled and leveled vocal tone. I also like that you can dial in your preferred blend using the Mix and Makeup controls.
The final stage, Flavour, introduces harmonic saturation through a built-in tape saturation curve. This gives the vocal track some grit and character, helping it cut through a busy mix.
Additional features include a noise gate, a Colour slider for frequency shaping, and full control over parallel compression via the Master Mix dial. There’s also a clean bypass system for quick A/B testing and live visual feedback so you can monitor what each compressor stage is doing in real time.
Although tailored for vocal use, the comp also works well on synths, leads, and even bass. The included presets offer a useful starting point for various musical styles and audio sources.
