Vienna Symphonic Library is a developer known for creating exceptional orchestral libraries, whether single instruments like the Studio Bösendorfer Imperial or sections like Synchron Special Woodwinds. Their latest release is the Synchron Stage Reverb Lite for macOS and Windows.
A fundamental element of VSL libraries’ success is the use of the Vienna Synchron Stage, one of the world’s best scoring stages.
The Vienna Synchron Stage has provided the setting for countless Hollywood scores, and now, VSL is offering some of that magic in the box.
Synchron Stage Reverb Lite is a free version of VSL’s new flagship reverb plugin (paid version costs €149).
You don’t need to create an account to download the free reverb, but you’ll need to add an email address, which means you’ll get some marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time).
The full version provides every position around a typical orchestral scoring stage setup: Violins I/II, Viola, Cellos, Brass, Woodwinds, etc.
Synchron Stage Reverb Lite offers just two positions: Violins I and Brass.
While the positions are limited, they provide a decent foundation with Violins I near left and Brass mid-right.
The reverb time ranges from 0.90 seconds to 3.60 seconds, and there are a few more ways you can tweak the effect.
You can apply high-shelf or low-shelf filters, adjust the width of the wet signal, and modify the source’s width and center position.
We’ve been fortunate to receive multiple high-quality orchestral freebies already in 2025, like Sonixinema’s Delicate Strings and Whispering Woodwinds.
Although those libraries sound fantastic on their own, even great sounds and libraries need a little help in a larger composition. I like that Synchron Stage Reverb Lite provides a simple way to put instruments/sections in a realistic space.
The two sections offered in Synchron Stage Reverb Lite sound great for far more than violins and brass, naturally.
In addition to the orchestral setup, Synchron Stage Reverb Lite features a General Purpose mode, which divides the space into blocks.
The free version only allows access to the central blocks, but it still covers a lot of ground. Whether it’s a single instrument or vocals, I really like what this mode does for intimate recordings.
Synchron Stage Reverb Lite is a lovely freebie from VSL and not the first; Soft Imperial, Angelic Choir, and Celestial Strings are among the standouts.
Synchron Stage Reverb Lite is available in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (11 Big Sur and later) and Windows (10 and later).
