Plugin Boutique is currently offering Ujam’s Usynth Stranger for just $5 (list price $49) in an 89% off deal. The deal, which represents a $44 saving, expires on November 2, 2025.
Usynth Stranger was inspired by vintage synths and is designed to deliver sci-fi sounds and strange, dark synthesizer textures.
Stranger is a 64-bit only release for macOS and Windows for VST 2, VST 3, AAX, and AU 2.
Note that VST 2, AAX, and AU 2 are supported on Intel and Apple silicon Macs (Rosetta and native). Installing and authorizing the plugin requires the free Ujam app.
If you pick up the deal, you can also score an additional free plugin, as Plugin Boutique is currently offering Beatsurfing’s Random bass synth or 7DeadlySnares as a monthly freebie with any purchase.
This monthly freebie expires on October 31, 2025, two days before the Usynth Stranger deal expires.
If the name Usynth Stranger wasn’t enough of a hint, then if you look at the logo font, you can clearly see that Ujam was going for a Stranger Things vibe here.
With the deliciously phat and warm ‘80s synth tones that are found all across the soundtrack of the Netflix hit series, I can see why they’d want to get in on the action.
At the three-minute mark in UJam’s official demo, you can even hear them recreate the iconic synth sound and riff from the Stranger Things main theme, using the Usynth Stranger’s stock preset Thick Dual Arpeggio:

Alessandro Cardinale created Usynth Stranger, drawing inspiration from his collection of vintage synths.
The engine features the following synthesis/processing options: virtual analog, FM, wavetable, and multisampler.
The sounds on tap include Arps, Atmos, Basses, Brass, Keys, Leads, Pads, Picked, Poly, Sequences, and Strings.
The feature set is rounded out by a Sequencer, and no frills Delay, Ambience (verb), and Finisher effects modules.
The Finisher section is a Ujam signature feature, offering the ability to control a chain of effects via simple controls.
The single Effect knob in the Finisher module allows you to control the entire chain, allowing you to experiment with a whole range of sounds without having to go too far into the weeds of knob-tweaking.
There are quite a few different sounds on tap with Stranger, but it’s all within the aesthetic of retro sci-fi / cinematic vibes.
To my ears, Stranger is a modern interpretation of vintage sounds – it doesn’t sound like they were trying to one-to-one recreate the tones of old school synths.
I think Usynth Stranger could be a good buy for producers who want to get some throwback ‘80s vibes on a budget and who want to be able to experiment with a range of different sounds with effects using a simple interface.
