Trypticon by Sick Noise Instruments is a hi-tech and psytrance library for Kontakt (requires a full version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or newer), and is now free at The Sound Ape for a limited time.
The library usually costs $47, but The Sound Ape offers Trypticon for free throughout June (the offer ends on June 30, 2025).
Trypticon is a sample library/synth hybrid and the second one made available for free in recent months. In March of this year, The Sound Ape gave us the sci-fi-inspired library Noizebreaker for free.
The hybrid element of Trypticon stems from combining high-quality samples with a performance-driven environment, comprising six core sections: Sound, Filter, Envelope, Delay, Chorus, and LFO.
The sounds are arranged in three distinct instruments: Machine FX, Roboticon FX, and Robo Hits FX.
Trypticon provides all sounds in WAV format, allowing you to use them outside of Kontakt. However, the performance-driven workflow makes all the difference.
If you’re into hi-tech or psytrance music, you’ll know that it’s all about fast tempos, high energy, and complex rhythms and textures.
Having these sounds spread across the keyboard in three instruments provides a more intuitive way to create glitchy sequences than plucking samples from a folder.

Machine FX provides a collection of high-energy mechanical SFX.
Roboticon FX gives us a selection of glitchy and futuristic, machine-inspired tones.
Robo Hits FX features heavily processed hits, stabs, and distorted vocals.
Between the three instruments, we have everything we need to create rhythmic, glitchy textures, soundscapes, and robotic leads.
The sound design elements of Trypticon are enough to make us feel like we can shape something unique without losing all of the immediacy of ready-to-use samples.
While on the topic of ready-to-use samples, don’t forget to download our exclusive BPB sample pack from ModeAudio.
Hi-tech and psytrance music, like many other genres, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If the non-stop sound of an all-night rave is a little too chaotic for you, there are always other ways to put futuristic, machine-inspired sounds to work, so don’t dismiss it by default.
If you’re an all-night raver, then let the chaos begin!
