The Game has released his own list of the top 100 rappers from Los Angeles in response to Complex’s list that was published last week.
On Sunday, the Compton native shared his list on Instagram with a lengthy caption explaining how he doesn’t know who approved Complex’s list but understood that “playas f%?k up too.” He then spoke about his love for Los Angeles and how he’s never “abandoned it” before claiming “I AM LA.”
“I’ve mastered the art of surviving in this city that has claimed so many & believe when I say.. I’ve been in the trenches since my birth. 45 years the music created here has been the soundtrack to my life & here I stand today as one of thee koldest rappers in the history of the city, state & coast I’ve given my blood sweat & tears to,” he wrote on Instagram. “Everybody on this list know what it is with me out here & those not on the list understand that the names above from top to bottom best represent this city & its culture.”

He continued, “The few rappers on the list that weren’t specifically born here are on the list because of their dedication & choice to ride with the city once they got here. It’s non debatable !!! Argue all you want to but this is how I feel… if I’m wrong, challenge my pen & let me remind you of what & who I am.At the end of the day, this MY LIST PUNK !!!! I was born here & I will die here….Sincerely, THE COAST GUARD ‼️🩸👌🏾”
2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, and The Game himself topped the list while other LA heavyweights such as Kurupt, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Nipsey Hussle, Y.G, Warren G, will.i.am rounded out the Top 25. The Game initially joked that those responsible for the original lust had been “smokin that good dope” shortly after it was published.
He also teased that new music might be coming soon. “All the motivation I needed to finish The Documentary 3!!” The Game wrot. “Y’all got Game f#%ked up!!”
