Tamber 2.0 adds gesture control, natural-language DAW tools, and Windows support

Tamber has launched Tamber 2.0, a major redesign that turns the platform into five connected creative apps and adds native Windows support.

The five tools are Gestures, Tamby, Librarian, City Packs, and Sonic Atlas. They now operate as dedicated apps within the same suite, so you can simply open the part you need instead of loading the entire platform into every session.

It’s worth noting how Tamber approaches AI. It is an assistive, non-generative system designed to help musicians operate their tools and find sounds, not a prompt box that generates finished songs, stems, or samples.

Tamber calls its underlying technology Sonic Intelligence. It translates language, color, emotion, texture, taste, place, and movement into musical control. The system was developed in collaboration with musicians who experience synesthesia and has never been trained on third-party audio.

Gestures is the most unusual part of the suite. It uses a webcam to track your hands, letting you trigger notes and chords or control effects through movement. Tamber 2.0 turns Gestures into a standalone instrument and a VST3/AU plugin, with new synth and vocoder engines that work without an external virtual instrument. Latency has also been reduced to ensure a tighter connection between movement and sound.

Tamby lets you control Ableton Live through spoken or written instructions, including setting inputs, arming tracks, starting a recording, creating loops, and locating presets. The new version runs as a small overlay that disappears when not in use, while chat history keeps previous prompts and actions available.

Librarian brings the same natural-language idea to your own sample collection. Instead of relying on filenames and standard tags, you can search for something like “a drum sound that feels like ice.” Mimic search finds similar files from an example you record or import, and the new floating Mini-Librarian lets you drag results into any DAW without switching windows. Version 2.0 also adds Favorites and Crates for organization.

City Packs contain production-ready sounds made from original field recordings captured around the world. Tamber plans to release a new city every month.

Sonic Atlas takes a broader discovery approach, letting you explore popular music across different cities, countries, and periods, and then save useful references for later.

Tamber says future updates will add more DAW support for Tamby, with Logic Pro and FL Studio among the most requested options. Gestures will gain automation controls and more synth features, while Librarian will receive additional search and organization tools.

Tamber 2.0 runs natively on macOS and Windows. Access costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year, and the 14-day free trial does not require a credit card.
