Soundtoys offers the Little Plate plate reverb plugin for free until December 18th as part of the 12 Days of Soundtoys promotion.
The free offer on Little MicroShift (my absolutely favorite Soundtoys plugin from the Little lineup) just expired, but the next freebie is equally sweet.
If you’ve ever wanted the lush sound of a classic EMT 140 plate reverb without the hardware price (or the maintenance bill), this one is a must-try.
Now, Little Plate has been around for quite a while and has been free on a few occasions. But if you missed those opportunities, Soundtoys is now letting you get it for free until December 18th.
As mentioned above, Little Plate is inspired by the legendary EMT 140 reverb, a studio staple since the late 1950s. Instead of sampling a single unit, Soundtoys reportedly restored and analyzed multiple original plates to dial in a tone that feels unmistakably plate-like.
That dark but rich character is exactly why plate reverbs still show up on vocals, guitars, keys, and drums decades later.
On the interface, you get a Decay control, Mix, Low Cut, and a Mod switch. That’s it. But I love simple plugins that sound good, and this one definitely does.
Short decay times give you tight ambience, while longer settings create huge, spacious tails that work beautifully on vocals and pads. And I’d always take that simplicity over a reverb with dozens of parameters that take ages to fine-tune.
The party trick is the Decay knob’s red zone. If you push it all the way, Little Plate enters infinite decay mode, where the reverb never fully fades out. It’s not something you’ll use on every mix, but for ambient music, sound design, or creative transitions, it’s super inspiring.
You can even automate the decay to “freeze” moments and release them again later.

The Mod switch is another nice detail. It introduces subtle movement into the reverb tail, making long decays sound smoother and thicker, especially on pitched material like synths, guitars, and vocals. Add the built-in Low Cut filter, and it’s easy to keep things clean without muddying up your low end.
Little Plate comes with 25 presets that cover everything from short, warm plates to cavernous spaces and experimental reverbs. I’d still recommend tweaking things yourself, but the presets are a solid starting point.
This free offer runs until December 18, 2025. You’ll need to register with Soundtoys, and your activation code will be sent by email. It’s limited to one free license per customer and isn’t valid if you’ve already received Little Plate for free in the past.
Little Plate runs on macOS 10.15 or later and Windows 10 or later, and is available in 64-bit AU, VST2, VST3, and AAX formats. It supports sample rates from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz and requires an internet connection for activation.
