Scott Storch has launched a partnership with the direct-to-fan music platform OpenWav, offering musicians a chance to feature on his next EP.
As announced by OpenWav on Wednesday (August 20), the platform is launching StorchVerse, an indie music competition that rising artists can submit to and appear alongside a major recording artist on one of the tracks from the Grammy Award-nominated producer’s upcoming four-track EP. The EP will release exclusively via OpenWav, a new platform that will allow fans to purchase event tickets, merchandise, and digital content experiences. Additionally, OpenWav promises to help independent artists monetize their own content better than mainstream streaming platforms.
“I’ve worked with some of the biggest artists in the world, but what excites me most right now is discovering the next wave of talent, which is why I am excited to team up with OpenWav,” said Storch. “This new EP isn’t just about me, it’s about discovering new talent and giving them a stage to shine.”
To enter the competition, artists need to record a verse featuring at least 16 bars and a hook through a Scott Storch beat available through the OpenWav app. From there, they just need to upload their song, via video or audio, and garner support from their fans. Each interaction from fans will help their submission with the chance of winning. The top prize will see the artist featured on the EP alongside a $3,000 cash prize, while second and third place winners will also feature on the project.

“Today’s mainstream platforms are creating barriers for independent artists to monetize their content, own their data, and foster authentic audience relationships, which undermines musicians’ ability to build sustainable careers”, said OpenWav co-founder and CEO, Jaeson Ma. “This competition embodies what OpenWav is all about – empowering artists to be discovered and valued. Partnering with Scott Storch, one of the most iconic producers of our time, gives rising artists a platform that can change their careers overnight.”
