Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has reportedly passed away at the age of 70.
Starcom Network News, a radio station located in Rihanna’s home country of Barbados, announced the passing of the singer’s father on Saturday morning (May 31). Although an official cause of death hasn’t been released, the station reported that Fenty died after a “brief illness.”
According to the radio’s sources, Rihanna’s family members have gathered in California to celebrate his life.
Rihanna has had a tumultuous relationship with her father throughout her life because of his struggle with addiction. In 2011, she claimed that her father wasn’t interested in being involved in her life unless the media was involved.
“Like, what do I even mean to him?” she revealed to Vogue. “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it.”

In 2019, Rihanna sued her father for using her Fenty brand name in efforts to benefit his own entertainment company — but later dropped the suit.
A year later, Ronald revealed in an interview with The Sun that the singer sent a ventilator to Barbados to help him fight the coronavirus.
“I thought I was going to die, to be honest,” he said. “I have to say, I love you so much, Robyn.”⠀
“My daughter Robyn was checking in on me every day,” he added. “She did so much for me. I appreciate everything she has done.”
This is a developing story…
