In an interview on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, Rick Ross suggested that he’s open to mending his friendship with Drake after they took shots at each other last year.
As seen above in a clip from the podcast episode, Rozay said he felt that the back-and-forth between Drake and Kendrick Lamar was “necessary.” But when asked about the origins of the beef between him and Drake, he avoided confirming that it was over the Canadian rapper’s alleged treatment of French Montana. “I spoke on that on the record I released,” he said. “Like I said, fuck that shit. … Was it something really deep? Nah, fuck that, though. But if you pussy you pussy, if it’s real it’s real.”
Ross was among the artists on the beef’s periphery, alongside J. Cole, The Weeknd, Future, and Metro Boomin. He threw himself into the ring after Drake’s first official track of the beef, “Push Ups,” appeared online. Since Ross caught some strays after showing love to the instigating song “Like That,” he responded with his own diss track, “Champagne Moments,” which arrived on streaming platforms before “Push Ups” officially dropped.
Ross has a long history with Drake, with whom he has frequently collaborated. Asked if there’s potential for them to work out their issues and hop in the studio again, he kept it open. “You never know,” he replied. “If a n***a send me a bottle Luc Belaire, especially the white one… That go for any of these young n***as out here. Send me a white Belaire bottle, I’ll take a picture with you. ‘Cause that white Belaire bottle… Know what I’m saying?”
While he suggested there’s potential for them to be friends again, Ross couldn’t stop himself from joking about Drake’s racial identity again, something he did extensively on “Champagne Moments.” On the track, Ross called Drake “white boy,” something that K Dot also called into question on “Euphoria” when he joked he doesn’t like hearing Drizzy say the n-word.
