This summer, we had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with We Out Here Festival – a celebration of music, culture, and community that brings together some of the most exciting artists and creatives from around the world.
Set in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside from August 15-18, We Out Here is more than just a festival. It’s a space for discovery, connection, and creativity – whether you’re dancing through late-night sets, stumbling across your new favourite artist, or soaking up wisdom at the Knowledge Tent. That’s where pointblank came in.
A Taste of pointblank in the Fields
Across all four days, we set up multiple DJ and music production workshops, and the tent was buzzing from start to finish. Our brilliant lecturers, DJ Shorty and Eone, led fun, interactive, and genuinely informative sessions that drew in a beautifully mixed crowd. Kids as young as 10 were scratching alongside music fans in their 50s and 60s, proving that music education really has no age limit.
The atmosphere was alive: filled with curiosity, instant breakthroughs, and an enthusiastic crowd keen to get hands-on with the gear. pointblank students were part of the action too, thanks to the free festival tickets we gave away in our lucky draw. Seeing them connect what they’ve learned in the classroom to a live, interactive setting was exactly why we do this – it’s education brought to life in the heart of the music industry.
Powered by Partnerships
Of course, none of this magic happens in isolation. Our partners helped make the Knowledge Tent what it was. Audiogold kitted out The Knowledge Tent with a world-class sound system, ensuring every bassline, scratch, and effect landed perfectly. Selextorhood, a women-inclusive DJ collective, also took over the space using our kit to run their own community-focused workshop, showing how shared resources can foster inclusivity and empowerment.
And of course, the gear didn’t go unnoticed. We brought along our Pioneer DJ and Ableton setup so that every workshop was hands-on and practical. From ‘How to Scratch’ to ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Music Production’, each session was designed so people left with new skills they could use straight away.
Industry Voices in Conversation
Workshops weren’t all we had in store. We also hosted intimate artist talks and listening sessions with two amazing music producers: Om Unit, exploring the outer edges of acid dub, and Pinch, the founder of the British dubstep label Tectonic. Hearing their creative processes, and then listening together on a seriously powerful sound system, was like stepping into a pointblank masterclass: curiosity-led, hands-on, and rooted in real industry practice.
Looking Ahead
The result? A packed tent, an outstanding turnout, and a strong pointblank presence across the festival. More importantly, it showed how we connect education with the wider industry, whether through our lecturers, our students, or our partnerships with forward-thinking collectives and companies.
We left feeling proud, inspired, and deeply grateful to We Out Here, Audiogold, and Selextorhood for the collaboration. And we can’t wait to do it all again.
