Ripple Phaser by Minimal Audio is currently 90% off at Audio Plugin Deals, bringing the price down from $49 to $4.90.
Ripple Phaser is a multi-mode phase manipulator that goes beyond conventional phaser effects. It features seven distinct modes covering classic phasing, inverted phase, a clean targeted mode, low pass, high pass, band pass, and a disperse mode.
We already covered it a couple of years ago, so check that article for a bit more information.
The filter modes combine filtering with phasing for more aggressive hybrid effects, while the disperse mode applies all-pass dispersion and works particularly well on transients and harmonically rich material.
One of my favorite Ripple Phaser features is support for up to 24 notches. Most phasers offer far fewer, so the higher count opens up room for playing with more complex spectral textures.
You can shape the effect using the Bend control (which shifts notches closer together on the low or high end), Center Frequency, and Center Spread (which adjusts the spacing between notches).
There’s also a draggable spectrum display that provides real-time visual feedback as you tweak parameters. Setting the modulation depth to zero turns Ripple Phaser into a static filter, which is handy when you want the tonal character without the movement.
Modulation comes from a built-in LFO with four shapes (sine, triangle, ramp, and square) that can be continuously morphed when snap mode is disabled.
The LFO routes between three controls simultaneously via the Mod Balance slider, and you can sync it to your DAW’s tempo. Randomization and stereo offset controls help keep the effect unpredictable, and I really like randomizing this one for some crazy results on the output.
The stereo controls deserve a mention on their own. Setting a frequency offset between the left and right channels, combined with cross-feedback (where the left channel feeds into the right and vice versa), can produce some pretty cool and unusual stereo imaging effects.
The output section includes a soft-clip limiter with two character modes to tame the signal or add saturation.
Ripple Phaser ships with over 70 presets covering everything from subtle movement to more radical sound design. CPU usage is low, and in-app tooltips help you learn each parameter quickly.
At $4.90, this is a solid deal for a versatile phaser that doubles as a creative filter and stereo tool. The offer runs for about two more weeks on Audio Plugin Deals.
The plugin requires macOS 10.11 or later (with native Apple Silicon support) or Windows 10 or later, and a 64-bit DAW that supports VST3, AU, or AAX.
