Mariah Carey has reflected on the time she embarrassed her teenage son during a Twitch livestream.
Visiting the UK, the singer spoke to Heart Breakfast radio hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman about the incident, after being asked if she ever embarrasses her kids, 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan (who she nicknames Roe and Roc, respectively).
“There was a whole thing where my son [Moroccan] was on Twitch, and I walked into the room with my daughter, and we were just like, you know, saying hi, whatever,” Carey said at the 04:50 mark in the video above.
“The video from this thing kind of, like, took off because everybody was like, ‘Oh, she’s embarrassing her kids,'” she added.
The incident happened earlier this year when Roc was streaming live. Carey and Roe joined him unexpectedly, which led to Roc’s friends gushing over his superstar mom.
“Y’all need to get out now,” Roc pleaded. “Mom, they can see you.”
Comments like, “Hi Mariah, I love you,” poured in as Carey waved it off with a casual, “Hi, you guys. I love you, too.”
Carey shares her children, whom she affectionately calls “Dem Kids,” with ex-husband Nick Cannon. Despite their divorce in 2016, the couple are still on good terms and continue to support each other and their kids.
“They’re a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn’t be the same person without them,” Carey told People in 2019. “I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.”
