Majetone has recently introduced a new virtual instrument which aims to re-imagine a drum kit as a synth. Dream Kit: Zenith features 120 different ‘waveforms’ or performances and over 1,000 presets.
This instrument is kind of a long held dream for me. I first came up with it when I was refinishing my early 80’s Gretsch kit in 2015 – originally the idea was a kit & the marimba like shell tone (Preset ‘SHELLFI’). That didn’t work, the sound of the shells wasn’t the same as the drums. It sounded weird, BUT it planted a seed. What if I chromatically tuned everything and it would sort of be like a synth?
Dream Kit: Zenith features
- 120 Waveforms: 120 unique performances derived from drums
- Nuts and bolts, Lugs, Tuning Rods, Floor Tom Legs, Shells, Heads, Drums, Toms, Snares, Cymbals, Pedals and Stands, Percussion, Rims, Conceptual ideas/granular proc.
- Deeply multisampled with up to 38 velocity layers, multiple round robins to interesting one shots and everything in between.
- Stretched and tuned across 5 octaves then
- Recorded and re-amped at Otterhead Studios giving Close, Overhead and Room on everything.
Dream Kit: Zenith is available for Windows and Mac (VST3 and AU) with a 40% off intro discount, priced £90 GBP instead of £149 GBP until June 25th, 2025.
