Toward the end of the appearance, Ye reflected on the initial 2022 release of an unfinished version of the album through the Stem Player, remembering it as his “first independent release” while reiterating his frustrations over the major label system he was still very much a part of for the original Donda rollout one year prior.
“I feel very blessed to just be free from a lot of those conditions,” Ye, whose 2025 has been largely defined by a slew of Nazism-related social media updates ranging from “I love Hitler” to “After further reflection I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a Nazi,” said during the stream. “When I was listening to this, it brought me back to a lot of places that I was in, whether I was repping Balenciaga or we were doing the Gap shit.”

By Wednesday morning, Ye had elaborated on clearance issues, at one point claiming that Donda 2 would likely be quickly removed from streaming services due to an apparent pay discrepancy involving some of the album’s contributors. The album was still available at publication time.
New to the 2025 iteration of the album is a sample of Akademiks’ recent comments about Ye’s frequently expressed disagreements over the custody arrangement he has with Kim Kardashian regarding the former couple’s four children.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether any of the featured artists had given their blessing for the streaming release, which comes more than three years after the Donda sequel first started to materialize.
