Kanye West has weighed in on the Diddy trial, sharing that he wishes Kid Cudi hadn’t taking the stand.
On Saturday (May 24), the controversial rapper/producer tweeted-and-deleted his opinion on his former protégé’s testimony in the United States v. Sean Combs trial this past week, and extended support to Diddy and his family members, some of whom have attended the trial.
“I wish Cudi hadn’t testified against Puff,” Ye wrote. “We need not to be locked in white systems.”
He added: “Praying for Puff and his family. Praying for Puff Daddy and the Family.”
Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) who was called as a witness, took the stand on Thursday (May 22), and testified that he was dating Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and former artist, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, while she and Puff were on the outs.
During Cudi’s brief relationship with the singer, Ventura confided in him, claiming she was being physically abused by the Bad Boy music mogul. Diddy, in turn, allegedly began to harass Cudi. One accusation made against Diddy includes him damaging the “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper’s Porsche with a Molotov cocktail after an alleged house break-in.

During an alleged sit-down, where the two artists were joined by Ventura, Cudi accused Diddy of not fessing up to his car being destroyed, although they later made amends at a Soho House party years later.
Cudi was subpoenaed to speak as a witness during the trial. Afterward, he shared that testifying was “stressful” in a video thanking fans for their support.
“I’ve been seeing all the love and support, and I just wanna say thank you so much, man,” he said. “People have been hitting me up the past week just checking in and, and even today, and I just, it really means a lot to me, man.”
“You guys are the best. I love y’all. This is a stressful situation,” he continued. “I’m glad it’s behind me and yeah, I love y’all, man.”
Cudi’s testimony led to a debate on social media as to whether he was “snitching.” 50 Cent joked about Cudi’s car being firebombed, while Young Thug seemed to label the rapper/actor a “rat,” which was addressed by journalist Touré.
Kanye West has shared his admiration for Diddy before, including during a surprise appearance at the 2022 BET Awards when the music mogul was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
