The Persistent Series from developer Kage Production is a collection of seven free plugins (beta stage) available in VST3 format for Windows.
Before I list the individual plugins, I want to expand on compatibility a little, as there are a few things I’m unclear about.
The Kage Production website says, “Persistent Series aims to support both Windows and macOS so that as many users as possible can access it. However, please check the download page for the supported operating systems and versions for each plugin.”
Unfortunately, since Logic Pro doesn’t natively support VST3 plugins, I tried running them in the SoundBridge DAW on macOS but had no luck.
With that said, if you’re running any other DAW on macOS, and you get these plugins working, let us know.
Lastly, before moving on, I can see that many of you really enjoyed the previous KG Series, and the developer was quick to respond to issues in the comments, so I’m sure Kage Productions will be just as helpful this time around, too.
The included plugins are:
- Persistent Q – precision EQ
- Persistent C – Versatile compressor
- Persistent R – Reverb with post/tail EQ stages
- Persistent Saturator – Precision saturation for mixing/mastering
- Persistent SI – Stereo imager
- Persistent L – Loudness management
- Persistent Nodes – Node-based audio signal flow design
Creativity being restricted by cost is never a nice thought, especially at a time when everything is getting more expensive. It’s awesome that we still have developers providing free tools to help level the playing field for all.
Let us know how you get on with the Persistent Series (OS, DAW, etc.)
