At pointblank, we love rare stories that sit at the crossroads of industry, creativity, and discovery – and Genevieve’s journey is a great example.
Genevieve is a Sales Executive at Solid State Logic (SSL), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of analogue and digital audio recording equipment. Although she’s a proactive member of the business, she is also a producer herself who always finds unique ways to blend genres for her upcoming EP.
Her journey with music began more than a decade ago on festival dancefloors, where the energy of the scene inspired her to move from fan, to DJ, to producer. At the same time, she was building a professional career in music technology, first with a popular guitar amp manufacturer and now with Solid State Logic. Throughout it all, the common thread has been a deep love for sound and the people who create it. “I wanted proper fundamentals,” she explained. “I knew what I liked, but I wanted to understand why it works.”
Thanks to our meaningful partnership with SSL, Genevieve enrolled onto our six-month Online Music Production Certificate course to develop her production skills further and support her music goals. The pointblank course came at the perfect time, where she found a flexible way to learn whilst working and performing her own gigs. As it was online, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) helped her to study at her own pace, with the reassurance of continued access to materials even after completion. She especially valued being able to progress without pressure, explore reliable workflows, and even discover skills that translated directly into her product demos and conversations on the sales floor.
One turning point was the Creative Audio module, where she worked closely with our expert lecturer, Dave Stone. It opened her ears in new ways, inspiring her to think about not just which sounds to use but how to shape them. The experience left her feeling more musically aware in everyday life. “The course gives you the fundamentals, whilst allowing you to be creative and unique.” With a new framework for composition and confidence in her creative choices, Genevieve’s now finishing tracks with intention and speed. We are very excited to hear your upcoming EP, and are proud of the journey you’ve made.
We’re also teaming up with SSL for an exclusive ‘Tools for Hybrid Mixing’ workshop on November 11th at our London campus, where Genevieve will take the lead. Using SSL 360 as the hub, she’ll walk through how digital and analogue processing come together in a modern hybrid setup.
