A scrapped GloRilla concert is at the center of a seven-figure lawsuit.
According to legal documents reviewed by AllHipHop, newly founded event firm Esmail Entertainment is suing promotional group Shaw Management Enterprises for “fraud, civil theft, and tortious interference with business expectancy.” The complaint stems from a canceled August 6 show at Cleveland’s Wolstein Center, where GloRilla was expected to take the stage along with Moneybagg Yo and Skilla Baby.
The plaintiff claimed that just two days after the ticket sales went live, Shaw Management Enterprises sent an email urging them to cease all marketing efforts. The promotional company allegedly failed to provide a reason for the request, which prompted Esmail Entertainment to contact GloRilla’s camp. The event firm was reportedly told that GloRilla and Shaw Management Entertainment were still negotiating the contract.
Esmail Entertainment accused the defendants of not only misrepresenting artist bookings but also forging documents; the latter is reportedly what led GloRilla to pull out of the negotiations. According to the complaint, agreements for Moneybagg Yo and Skilla Baby were also fabricated.
The event firm alleged it gave Shaw Management Enterprises $280,000 in various deposits to Shaw Management, but only $20,000 of that has been returned. Furthermore, the plaintiff argues it lost up to $2.5 million in marketing costs and ticket revenue, as the show was expected to draw thousands of concert-goers.
GloRilla, Moneybagg Yo, and Skilla Baby are not listed as co-defendants.
