IK Multimedia has given low-end enthusiasts an early Christmas present in the form of four bass guitar giveaways for AmpliTube 5 CS users in November.
AmpliTube 5 CS is IK’s free guitar and bass workstation, exclusive to 64-bit systems for macOS and Windows.
The November giveaway features the SVX-500 bass amp, matching 2×10 SVX-500 cab, SVX Compressor, and Morley Power Wah Fuzz.
New AmpliTube 5 CS users can snag these freebies by installing AmpliTube 5 CS in November. Existing users can also score these freebies via a method we’ll outline at the end of the article.
Now, let’s take a gander at the four gear models.
First up is the SVX-500, a solid-state bass amp based on the Ampeg BA500, a versatile model released in 2004.
The second freebie is the 2×10 SVX-500 cab, which is based on the Ampeg BA500. This is the matching cab for the SVX-500 / BA500 amp.
There’s also the SVX Compressor stomp, which IK Multimedia rather vaguely states is modeled after “a vintage compression stomp”.
The effect is made to deliver a sustained and powerful crush with plenty of character.
Last but definitely not least is the officially certified Morley Power Wah Fuzz.
This replicates Morley’s Power Wah Fuzz stomp, which debuted in the ‘70s.
The pedal, as you might expect, combines wah and fuzz effects into a single stomp.
The original Power Wah Fuzz was notably used by the late Metallica bass legend Cliff Burton in his signature searing leads.
IK Multimedia’s Christmas spirit extended only so far as giving away these models to new AmpliTube 5 CS users for November. However, Bedroom Producers may recall that there is a workaround for existing users to scoop up these freebies as well.
Existing users who want the bass goodies should open their IK Multimedia Product Manager, unauthorize their copy of AmpliTube 5 CS, and then re-authorize it. You may also wish to click ‘refresh your purchases’ here to tick things over.
This method only works if your current device is the only device that has an active Amplitube 5 CS authorization on it.
If you have a previous Amplitube 5 CS authorization on a dead device, unfortunately, this workaround will not work, and there appears to be no way around that.
I haven’t actually tested this workaround for this current November giveaway, but it’s been working for all the previous monthly giveaways, so I’m guessing it’ll continue to work. Thanks again to the BPB readers who outlined this method.
