SSL X-ValveComp is a mono or stereo channel compressor that offers vintage valve emulation.
You can switch between Peak and RMS modes, manual and auto gain make-up modes, and there’s a dry/wet mix for parallel compression.
When engaged, the Valve In button brings in a tube compressor emulation that saturates the signal by adding harmonics. The valve stage occurs after the compression in the signal path.
You also have a sidechain input with low- and high-cut filters, along with a useful Listen button to hear the compressor sidechain.
The SSL Drumstrip features five audio processing tools that collectively breathe life into tired drum and percussion tracks.
The strip includes a Transient Shaper, Gate, High/Low Frequency Enhancers, and the SSL Listen Mic Compressor (inspired by the SSL 4000 E Series console).
The Gate is a good way to tighten everything up, from shortening hits to controlling wayward ambience.
You can take that a step further by using the Transient Shaper to add attack to drum hits.
One of the cool things about Drumstrip is that you can configure the processors/modules in any order to change how they interact with the incoming signal.
