Sample Logic recently released GrainScaper, an innovative granular soft synth for macOS and Windows, and it’s available at a special introductory price for a limited time.
GrainScaper is available for $69 until Wednesday, 7 May 2025, when it will return to the regular price of $99.
GrainScaper takes any audio source and splits it into microscopic grains that you can manipulate in various ways to enhance sounds or create something entirely new.
We don’t see granular synthesis plugins as often as we do other kinds, but it’s one of the best ways to turn almost nothing into absolutely epic sounds.
It’s especially good for gritty textural pads and soundscapes that move and evolve over time.
GrainScaper does this by giving you four distinct grain modules: A, B, C, and D.
Each grain module is entirely independent and offers precision control over pitch, timing, density, pan, and more. You also get dedicated cloud mixing per module.
GrainScaper features four LFOs that you can drag and drop onto almost any parameter in each grain module. The simple modulation workflow makes it easy to bring out those gorgeous textures that granular synthesis is known for.
You can add depth with the built-in delay and reverb effects. The delay effect is tempo-synced or free-running.
My favorite part of GrainScaper is the XY spatial controller, which lets you control volume (Y-axis) and playback position (X-axis) simultaneously.
You can assign each of the four grain modules unique XY paths to create complex, intertwining movements within your sound. The XY pad is where you can transform the most basic sound into an epic soundscape.
GrainScaper features 240 presets to get you started and a randomizer for quick inspiration.
