Cardi B took to social media to grieve the death of Dominican influencer Ariela Mejia-Polanco, known online as Ariela La Langosta, who was fatally shot inside her car on the Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon, New York, after leaving a Manhattan nightclub where she worked.
Ariela was discovered on Saturday (August 17) with multiple gunshot wounds, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation they believe was likely “targeted for violence.” No suspects have been named.
Cardi B honored her memory, sharing a photo of Ariela on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Rip Dominican pretty.”

6ix9ine, who previously featured Ariela in his 2023 “Wapae” music video, also posted several photos and videos of their time together and called her “the queen of New York.”
In another, he said, “You supported me in everything,” calling Ariela “My sister.”
Ariela had reportedly just left a party at Ikon New York, a club and restaurant in Manhattan where she worked as a waitress, shortly before the shooting.
Ikon New York temporarily shut its doors in response to her death, calling her “a bright, humble spirit who could light up any room.”
Another post read “our hearts are broken. Your joy, your humility, and the way you treated everyone with so much care always made you stand out. Thank you for giving so much love and support to our home, which also became yours. To Ariela’s family, we are here for anything you need. We still can’t believe it.”
Other nightlife venues also posted tributes, reflecting the profound impact she had on the city’s entertainment scene.
Ariela had built a sizable following online, amassing more than 556,000 Instagram followers with her fashion-forward content and magnetic personality.
