Cam’ron has revealed he confronted Diddy on behalf of Mase in order to get the latter his publishing rights back.
On a recent episode of It Is What It Is, Mase had asked Cam what went down between him and Diddy when they ran into each other on a boat. According to Cam, Mase had told him to ask. the music mogul about regaining his publishing rights, and as a good friend, Cam went ahead to take care of the favor.
Cam claimed that Diddy wanted to make an offer for their hit podcast It Is What It Is, and Mase was open to hearing what the disgraced mogul had to offer. However, Mase wanted Cam to first figure out what was going on with his publishing rights—an issue Mase had been dealing with for years.
“Word to everything I love you said tell the n***a I want my publishing,” said Cam. “Puff wanted to make an offer for It Is What It Is and you told me to go see how much he was talking about […] Then when I tell the n***a I’m on the boat, he pull up on his boat, ‘Listen, what’s the business, what’s happening,’ this that and the third […] but you sent me to do something and I did it and that was that. Got your publishing back, though; I ain’t taking credit or nothing.”

Mase was signed to Diddy and was one of the breakout stars on Bad Boy Records in the late 90s. However, the relationship between the two got complicated due to business disputes, with Mase claiming Diddy exploited him financially.
In particular, Mase claimed Diddy offered him only $20,000 for his publishing rights despite him making Bad Boy Records millions of dollars. Mase has since demanded the release of his publishing and criticized Diddy for preaching about empowering Black artists while allegedly taking advantage of them.
Diddy rectified the situation in September 2023 by returning the publishing rights to several Bad Boy Records artists, including Mase, Faith Evans, 112, The Lox, and the estate of The Notorious B.I.G. Cam’ron celebrated the news in an Instagram post promoting his project, The Lost Files.
“My n***a murder had to sit this one out,” wrote Cam. “He just got his publishing back from Puff. Just finished the paper work for that yesterday,” he wrote in the caption. “Congrats @rsvpmasewhile he getting his music back in order, I’m dumping my hard drive pause. The lost files vol 1. Sept 8.”
