BPB reader Bemused has created a free Audiomodern Soundbox instrument using sounds from Flame Sound’s Heatwave library.
For those who don’t know, Flame Sound is my cinematic sound design label, and you can visit it to download a free pack of 50 royalty-free cinematic SFX sounds.

The free instrument from Bemused uses the Moods samples from Heatwave and turns them into a playable Soundbox pack with 17 presets. Twelve presets are based on the original Moods material, while five extend those sounds using the Reverie app from Parallel Minds.
Bemused did a great job with this, and I was happy to share it with BPB readers. It is always lovely to see someone take one of our sample releases and turn it into something new that other producers can use.
There is one important thing to mention. Heatwave and similar sound libraries usually do not allow the source material to be used for creating third-party instruments.
In this case, though, I was happy to make an exception because the instrument is completely free, made for the free version of Soundbox, and the samples are locked inside the Soundbox instrument rather than being shared as individual WAV files.
If you own Heatwave, you can, of course, use the sounds in your own music as usual, but creating and sharing new sample instruments from the library still isn’t part of the standard terms (my suggestion is to always contact the creator in advance to be sure).
Bemused’s pack can be imported into Audiomodern Soundbox Free. It includes WAV content for Windows and FLAC content for iOS, according to the creator.
