fedDSP has released fedZEP, a new guitar amp plugin built around two original amp designs, three preamp pedals, a dual-cab section, and a full FX rack. fedDSP is a small team from Sheffield, UK, led by producer and engineer Federico Telesca. Over the past few weeks, we’ve covered their first three plugin releases: the MORSO vintage distortion, the SNAPPER OTA-style compressor, and the ELEGANTE Tube Screamer-style overdrive. fedZEP brings all three pedals together inside a single amp plugin, alongside two new amp models and a collection of original effects, cabs, and utilities. Rather than modeling a specific vintage amp, the…

Intermod is a new audio plugin from Phantom Sounds, the developer behind Orbit (spatial reverb) and 56K (digital decay). We covered Orbit earlier this year, and if you missed it the first time around, it’s worth checking out. In doing so, it creates phantom frequencies derived from the original audio. Because these phantom frequencies are derived from the original audio, each input produces a unique character profile. Intermod offers four source modes: Radio, Tape, Wire, and Digital. You then…

Elementary Sounds has released TSUD, a free sample-based kalimba instrument for macOS and Windows. This is Elementary Sounds’ first free release and their first new product after roughly a year of silence. I was a bit surprised I hadn’t heard of them before, since their paid stuff looks pretty cool. They have a handful of paid instruments on their website, including a vibraphone, an old acoustic piano, and a Fender Rhodes. What I love about developers like Elementary Sounds is that they don’t sample the obvious stuff that’s been done a billion times. It’s awesome that they go for instruments…
