Audio Assault offers three new amp models for Amp Locker for free this Black Friday.
Amp Locker is Audio Assault’s free amp-sim platform where you start with a small set of amps, cabs, and effects, and then expand the collection with additional gear.
It’s a similar concept to AmpliTube CS. The idea is that you download the base plugin at no cost, and then build your own custom suite by purchasing (or in this case, claiming) extra modules.
With the free version of Amp Locker, you already get the Prestige 1950 guitar amp, seven stompbox-style pedals, and eleven cabinet models. That’s enough to cover the basic clean and higher-gain tones before you even need to look at expansions.
But for Black Friday, Audio Assault is giving away three extra amps inspired by some recognizable hardware.
The first is Hi-Clean, modeled after the Hiwatt Custom 100. It focuses on clean headroom and has an uncompressed feel similar to classic British amps.
If you need an amp to use with a bunch of guitar pedals or a clean sound that stays intact under heavy dynamics, this one is pretty neat.
Next is Special Drive, which I think is based on the Dumble Overdrive Special. It has a mid-rich drive, and I love how it sounds when set to mild overdrive.
The third freebie is Kovra, inspired by the Framus Cobra. This one goes in the opposite direction: modern gain, fast response, and a tighter low end suitable for heavier styles.
If the free Prestige 1950 doesn’t get you into modern metal territory, Kovra should fill that gap nicely.
The process of getting all three amps is simple. You need to add them to your cart, complete checkout (they show up as $0.00), and they’ll automatically be added to your Audio Assault user account.
After that, you just install the free Amp Locker plugin or standalone app, and the amps appear inside the browser.
Amp Locker runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux and is available in VST, VST3, AU, and standalone formats. You don’t need a subscription unless you want full access to the entire gear library. Also, the free tier works perfectly with these new amps.
If you’re already using Amp Locker, these three free models are an easy addition. But even if you’re new to it, this Black Friday deal is a good time to try it out. It doesn’t really match the scope of platforms like AmpliTube and other heavy-hitters, but I actually prefer the lightweight setup.
