MajorDecibel is a Canadian audio tech developer founded by Adam Love, who completed BESc and MESc degrees in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Audio DSP from the University of Western Ontario.
The company debuted in 2016 with its online audio mastering service, and it has since branched out into a portfolio of plugins.
Except for Mastering Studio Rx, MajorDecibel’s entire plugin lineup has a no-frills design philosophy.
This can be seen at a glance of the plugins, as most have only three main knobs to work with.
Although the plugins are simple, they all have features that make them stand out from the pack. One example is Equalizer’s Sub-Bass enhancement knob, which together with the configurable target frequency, is made to produce a warm, punchy subsonic sound.
