Tuva has released its biggest update so far, adding audio and MIDI playback directly inside DAW project previews. BPB readers get 30% OFF with code SUMMERBPB30.
We first covered Tuva earlier this year as a smart sample manager with AI tagging and project browsing, followed by the Tuva 1.4 update, which added customizable views, tabs, and pinned items.
Version 1.5 goes deeper into project files, which is where the app becomes more interesting for anyone with years of unfinished ideas spread across old sessions and backup drives.
The headline feature is that Tuva can now play audio and MIDI files directly from project previews, without opening the DAW. The update expands project support across Ableton Live, Reaper, FL Studio, Logic Pro, and Cubase.
That should be useful if you often remember a sound or sketch by the project it came from, but not by the filename. Instead of opening a heavy session just to check whether it contains the right loop, MIDI idea, or bounced stem, you can browse and audition the relevant material in Tuva first.
The new project view is designed for playback and asset browsing, so it is basically less about replacing your DAW and more about getting to the right session faster than before. You can search projects by stuff like duration and creation date, preview the material inside them, and keep your sample, MIDI, and project files in the same workspace.
Tuva still handles the regular sample-manager side of the job, too. It can organize audio files from any folder, tag sounds automatically across 66+ categories, detect tempo, mark favorites, build collections, and find similar sounds.
MIDI files are also part of the library, which is important because half-finished chord progressions and melody ideas can disappear just as easily as random WAV files.
The developers say all processing runs locally on your machine, with no internet connection required. That matters for this kind of utility, because your sample library and project folders can contain a lot of private, unfinished work.
Tuva is available for macOS and Windows and costs €25 as a lifetime license, with future desktop updates included. There is also a 14-day free trial, and BPB readers can use the coupon code SUMMERBPB30 to get 30% off until August 31st at 23:59 CEST.
