Musician and producer Natalie Bergman is back with her second solo album. Formerly one-half of the brother/sister duo Wild Belle, Bergman will release My Home Is Not in This World via Jack White’s Third Man Records on July 18.
Recorded analog-to-tape and produced by her brother and longtime collaborator Elliot Bergman, the 12-track record shimmers with gospel soul, country-western heartache and rock ‘n’ roll grit, all filtered through Natalie’s unmistakable voice.
“The title is an acknowledgement of my longing for this place over yonder,” Bergman said in a release. “It represents my desire to not be a part of what’s going on digitally. I was trying to be the antithesis of a lot of modern music. There are some earthy sounds and many of the songs are about love. At the same time, it’s about finding my place on earth—even though I’ve never truly felt like I belonged here.”

Leading the charge is the album’s first single “Gunslinger.” As if plucked out of a vintage Western film, “Gunslinger” features Bergman’s smoky vocals detailing a former flame singing, “You could take me down with your smile.” The California desert anthem builds with acoustic guitar and a grooving bass line as Bergman reminisces about unrequited love and yearning.
The accompanying black-and-white video taps into Bergman’s appreciation for soul-music nostalgia. The “Gunslinger” video features the singer and two additional dancers in a playful caper chasing around musician Ian Svenonius decked out in Western attire. My Home Is Not in This World follows Bergman’s three Wild Belle albums and her solo debut album Mercy, which was released in 2021 and saw the Chicago-born singer grappling with the sudden loss of her father and stepmother. Now, after giving birth to her son in 2024, Bergman is back with an album grounded in lived experiences, as well as transcendent.
