2B Played Music is offering QFX Color as a free download until June 26th, 2026.
QFX Color normally costs €19.99 and is currently listed at €14.99 during the developer’s June sale, but you can get it for free by using the coupon code “JUNE26” at checkout.
We covered QFX Color before, and we have also covered several other one-off plugins from 2B Played Music over the years.
I said it before, and I will say it again. These are not groundbreaking tools, and they are not some must-have plugins you need to drop everything for, but they are decent at what they do.
If you like simple one-off plugins, and I do because of the convenience, QFX Color is worth checking out while it is free. And if you already have a few 2B Played Music plugins in your plugin folder, it doesn’t hurt to add another to the collection.
QFX Color gives you a quick way to add a bit of character to a track with a single large knob.
For me, this is useful when working on cinematic sound design projects. Sometimes a sound just needs a little extra color to feel more interesting, and I like having a small collection of plugins that I can quickly throw on a channel for that purpose (another one I use is Magic Switch from Baby Audio).
QFX Color is part of 2B Played Music’s QFX One Series, which is built around simple effects with streamlined interfaces. The plugin combines low-pass and high-pass filtering with resonance controls, giving you a more colored analog-style tone-shaping workflow rather than deep surgical editing.
The main knob controls the filter frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. You can use it for darker, warmer filtering, brighter high-pass style movement, or simple sweeps and transitions.
There are also five preset resonance settings, plus a Tone control that switches the behavior between warmer low-pass filtering and brighter high-pass filtering. The layout is intentionally simple, so you do not have to spend time digging through menus just to add a little movement or color.
The product page notes that presets used in the demo video are not included, although you can save and recall your own presets. Given how simple the plugin is, recreating similar settings won’t be difficult anyway.
QFX Color runs on Windows 8.1, 10, and 11 as a 64-bit VST3 plugin. The macOS version supports AU and VST3 hosts, runs on macOS Catalina through macOS Tahoe 26 or higher, and is compatible with Intel and native Apple Silicon systems.
