The instrument combines the Italian F308 and Pop Grand into a single compact piano library. The weight is around 860 MB, with hybrid sampling and modeling used to provide a level of detail that the developer compares to much larger 354 GB piano libraries.
Italian F308 is based on a Fazioli F308 concert grand and is one of the four Virtuoso Grade pianos selected from Supreme Piano 5. It is a fairly balanced and refined piano with a consistent tone across the keyboard, and it’s a good fit for melodic, ambient, and atmospheric music.
Pop Grand takes a very different role. It is based on a baby grand piano and is designed for a clearer sound that can sit naturally in modern productions. That makes it the more obvious choice for pop, rock, and contemporary songwriting, where the piano needs to be present without taking over the mix.
The hybrid engine is a big part of Sound Magic’s pianos. Harmonia Grand runs on the Neo Piano Yosemite Engine, using hybrid sampling and modeling, fast loading, dynamic response, string interaction, and resonance modeling.
It also includes full MIDI 2.0 support. That means Harmonia Grand can respond to per-note expression, high-resolution velocity, smoother pedal behavior, and polyphonic aftertouch where the controller and DAW support those features.
Sound Magic also included the AI-powered Freeform Layer V2, which is used alongside the Yosemite engine for expressive control. In practical terms, the goal is to give your playing more room for nuance without a massive sample footprint.
The two-piano setup is convenient because not every production needs the same grand piano character. A more lyrical concert grand can work well for solo writing, cinematic material, or emotional cues, while a cleaner baby grand can be easier to place in a dense pop or rock arrangement.
Harmonia Grand is available now from the Sound Magic website. The current sale price is $169, and BPB readers can use the coupon code BPBreaders20c for an extra $20 off.
It is available as a 64-bit VST3 plugin for Windows, with VST and Audio Unit support on macOS. The instrument requires at least 890 MB of drive space and 2 GB of RAM.
