Excite Audio has released Evolve Nest Acoustics, a new sample-based instrument created in collaboration with sound designer and music maker Nest Acoustics.

Evolve Nest Acoustics is the first collaboration release in Excite Audio’s Evolve series. The instrument blends foley, nature recordings, field recordings, and analog-style synthesis into what the developer calls a modern “botanica” sound palette.
The instrument has a four-layer engine. Each patch can combine four sound sources, with the Evolve XY Pad used to blend between them in real time or control effect-style movement.
I tested it this morning, and it works great for mellow pads, soft plucks, textured atmospheres, and modern organic sound design.
Both the Full and Lite versions include four sound sources, sample and synth oscillator engines, sound engine parameters, global randomization, the XY Pad in Sounds and FX modes, four main macro controls, and a resizable interface.
The four macro effects are Holo, Crust, Breeze, and Erode.
Holo adds a smeared, resonant shimmer, Crust adds dry and crunchy top-end texture, and Breeze moves from smaller motion into longer tails.
Erode is my favorite, though. It introduces just the right amount of pitch and frequency instability to give your patch a more organic feel without sounding glitchy.
The Lite version includes 75 presets and 125 sound sources. It keeps the main four-layer workflow intact, and you can check it out for $1 with the BPB deal if you want a quick way to try the Evolve concept without buying the full version.
The Full version expands the library to 250 presets and 250 sound sources. It also adds the deeper editing side, including user sample import, the Edit page, dual filters, 16 rearrangeable FX modules, drag-and-drop modulation, velocity and keytracking modulation, four ADSRs, two LFOs, two envelope modulators, a mappable FX XY Pad, and a modulation matrix.
So, in short, Lite is the streamlined version for presets, four-layer blending, randomization, and macro-based sound shaping. Full is the version to get if you want to build more detailed patches, import your own samples, and go deeper with modulation and effects.
Evolve Nest Acoustics Lite is normally $29 and is currently on sale for $19 until June 30th, but the BPB coupon brings it down to $1. The Full version is currently $39 (normally $59), and upgrade/crossgrade options are also available at Plugin Boutique.
Evolve Nest Acoustics runs in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and Standalone formats on macOS 10.15 or higher and Windows 7 or higher. An internet connection is required to authorize the software.
