It’s built around a sampled vintage bass guitar strung with flatwound strings, so you’re getting a warm and controlled tone that sits easily in a mix. I tested it in several projects, and it’s quite flexible in terms of tone. It works well in a variety of pop and rock styles, but it’s flexible enough to also work in electronic music, hip-hop, and more.
I think this one is especially convenient for beginners. If you don’t have a bass guitar at hand and don’t want to program every note manually with a sampled bass, the Player Mode gives you access to over 900 pre-played phrases across dozens of styles.
These phrases automatically follow the chords and key you play, so it’s easy to sketch some pretty slick basslines quickly. This is awesome if you want to quickly get a solid bass guitar foundation going without getting bogged down in MIDI editing.
If you prefer more control over individual notes, the Instrument Mode lets you play everything yourself. You can input MIDI notes, access different articulations, and shape the sound using built-in amps, effects, EQ, and dynamics.
So the plugin goes both ways. It’s a good option whether you want quick results or detailed hands-on programming.
