pointblank Recordings (PBR) artist Sam The Zoologist has just added a truly special moment to his journey. After passing 100,000 streams on his latest EP and finding his sound more clearly than ever, Sam has now achieved something that once started as a simple wish in a viral video. He performed on stage with indie guitar-pop favourite Casey Lowery, one of the most talked-about and promising indie names in guitar pop. It’s the kind of story that reminds us how far talent, effort, and a little online magic can take you.
About a year ago, Sam shared a viral clip about playing a show to almost nobody, a painfully relatable moment for any emerging artist. Soon after, he posted another video where he listed a few artists he dreamed of supporting. That post soon became viral, and among the comments was one from Casey Lowry himself, saying he’d love to have Sam on stage one day.
They exchanged a few messages, but life got busy, as it often does. Almost a year later, Sam reposted his old “empty room” clip and talked about how far he’d come. The next day, a new message from Casey appeared:
“Wanna hold my promise. Wanna jump on my lil acoustic show on the 6th?”
Just like that, a simple comment from a year earlier turned into a real opportunity.
Performing with Casey is a big milestone for Sam. On the night, he and his long-time collaborator Pete played a stripped-back set that showed exactly what Sam does best: honest lyrics and a warm, open connection with the crowd.
This moment comes at the end of a breakthrough year for Sam. His latest EP has crossed 100,000 streams, a landmark that proves his music is resonating far beyond his immediate circle. He’s collaborated with fellow PBR artists, refined his sound in the studio, and quietly built the foundation for what he calls the most important chapter of his music career so far.
As Sam looks to next year, he’s focused on creating his most cohesive project yet: music that feels like a whole new book rather than just a new chapter. You can expect more live shows, more intimate unplugged moments, and new releases that highlight the artist he’s grown into.
