Following his brief appearance at Diddy’s federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial, the artist formerly known as Kanye West is serving as executive producer on a new EP from the Bad Boy Records founder’s son, King Combs.
Released Friday (June 27), the EP, titled Never Stop, features the track “Diddy Free,” parts of which are likely familiar to fans. In an X update ahead of the release, Ye said he was the executive producer of the project. However, a closer look at the credits, at least as they currently appear on streaming services, reveals that Ye is also credited as a producer and writer on all seven tracks of the EP.
Vocally, Ye can be heard on “People Like Me” and “Lonely Roads.” The latter also features his daughter, North West, and is presumably the same song at the center of an alleged trademark dispute between Ye and Kim Kardashian. Mario Winans is credited as a co-writer and co-producer on the track, also featuring JAAS.
“People Like Me” finds Ye continuing to posit himself as a villain, this time with the use of an apparent Scarface sample.
While Diddy was publicly critical of his White Lives Matter t-shirt design back in 2022, Ye has repeatedly spoken out in support of the disgraced music mogul in recent months. He publicly called for Diddy’s freedom in February, and that same month launched a Sean John collaboration further advocating for it. Diddy is currently in court facing sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Diddy’s weeks-long trial is now winding down to its final moments, with prosecutors giving their closing argument on Thursday (July 3). Per on-the-ground reporting from Complex’s Shawn Setaro, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik told jurors that Diddy “agreed to commit crimes” with his inner circle “over and over,” thus, in the opinion of the prosecution, necessitating the racketeering allegation.
