R. Kelly’s fiancée has once again denied her family’s claims that she’s been “brainwashed” by the disgraced singer-songwriter and convicted sex offender.
Joycelyn Savage—one of R. Kelly’s alleged victims, who claimed she welcomed her first child with him in 2022—released an update on social media and shut down accusations from her concerned family that she’s a “sex slave” to the singer. “My name is Joycelyn Savage, I’m 29 years old and I’ll be 30 next month,” she opened the video. “I am not a victim. I’ve been with Robert for ten years, he has been incarcerated for six years, and I have seen him every weekend for the past six years.”
Savage said she proposed to R. Kelly three years ago, and he said yes. “We are planning on getting married and having a family,” she said. “Please do not believe the lies that my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert. I am not held against my will, I am not a ‘sex slave,’ I am not ‘brainwashed,’ or any of those crazy lies that were told on me. I just want Robert to get the righteous justice that he deserves, because he deserves to be free. Enough is enough.”
Savage asked people to “pray” for Kelly, and reiterated her belief that he will be released soon. “I choose not to call my mother and father because I do not want to talk to them,” she continued. “I have a cellphone, and I choose not to call them. I’m a grown woman, and if I decide not to call them, that’s my choice. It is what it is. I’m happy where I’m at, I’m in love. I’m good.”
In 2022, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison by a New York jury on charges including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, forced labor, and eight violations of the sex-trafficking statute, the Mann Act. He was also sentenced to 20 years in prison by a Chicago jury on similar charges, including three counts of producing pornography and three counts of enticement of minors for sex.
Per TMZ, Joycelyn’s family said that they haven’t heard from her in years.
