Cassie has taken the stand in Diddy‘s racketeering and sex trafficking trial.
Tuesday, the singer, who was previously in a relationship with Diddy, recalled the alleged violence she says she “frequently” endured during her time with the Bad Boy Records founder, who has been behind bars since his initial September 2024 arrest.
Per live updates from Matthew Russell Lee, a.k.a. Inner City Press, Cassie, who’s currently pregnant, was first asked to confirm her age and occupation for the court, as well as the length of her and Diddy’s relationship (10 years). From there, she spoke about arguments she and Diddy had during their time together, with Cassie alleging that these arguments “would result in violence [and] dragging.”
As previously detailed, including in the days leading up to the start of Diddy’s trial, hotel surveillance footage from 2016 showed Diddy assaulting Cassie. Ahead of the trial, Diddy’s legal team had attempted to have the video barred from inclusion in the case.
That footage was shown and discussed on Tuesday, with Cassie saying the events that transpired took place following an alleged “freak-off.” Speaking more generally on the latter practice, Cassie, per in-court reports (note: the trial is not being filmed or livestreamed), alleged that Diddy would become angry if told “no” in relation to such demands.
“I didn’t know what ‘no’ could turn into,” Cassie said when testifying.
Later, she recalled taking ecstasy with Diddy, as well as detailed his alleged mood swings.
“The next thing I knew, I was getting hit in the face,” Cassie said. “There was also psychological abuse.”
Elsewhere, per the New York Times, Cassie described Diddy’s lifestyle as one facilitated by a roster of assistants who operated at his “beck and call” and could do “anything” he asked. In the early days of the relationship, Cassie said, she and Diddy “were having a good time” together.
Their relationship was non-monogamous, Cassie said in court on Tuesday, with both seeing other people. Still, Cassie says she felt intense jealousy.
Earlier this week, prosecutors alleged that Diddy paid a male escort to urinate in Cassie’s mouth.
A man named Daniel Phillip also testified in court and detailed graphic tales of “freak-offs,” saying he had sex with Cassie while Diddy watched and masturbated.
Diddy has denied the allegations against him in the case. In a previously reported statement, Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Diddy, said that his client “vehemently denies” the accusations.
“He looks forward to his day in court when it will become clear that he has never forced anyone to engage in sexual acts against their will,” Agnifilo said in March. “Many former employees stand by his side, prepared to attest to the dedication, hard work, and inspiration they experienced while helping build groundbreaking, award-winning businesses.”
