T.I. was hit with a lawsuit in Atlanta over claims he stole the title Situationships from Cylia Senii’s web series.
T.I. is facing a legal battle in Atlanta after TV producer Cylia Senii accused him of hijacking the title of her long-running web series Situationships for his upcoming comedy film.
The lawsuit alleges that the rapper-turned-filmmaker and his company, Grand Hustle Films, knowingly infringed on Senii’s intellectual property by using the same title for a movie she says mirrors her original concept.
Senii and her Atlanta-based company, Featherstone Entertainment, are seeking damages and an injunction to block the film’s release.
Senii claims she first launched Situationships in 2016 and actively produced it through 2024. The series, which explores modern dating and relationships, is available on platforms including YouTube, BET Digital, Amazon Prime, and Tubi.
According to the complaint, Senii sent a cease-and-desist letter to T.I. in December 2024 after learning about the film.
It also alleges that individuals who previously worked on Senii’s series later joined the production of T.I.’s film, raising questions about how much of her original work may have been used without permission.
Senii’s legal team argues that the rapper’s film “intentionally trades on the goodwill and brand recognition” of her series.
They claim that T.I. and his collaborators “acted with full knowledge” of her project and “deliberately chose to proceed in spite of that knowledge.”
The legal filing states, “Defendants’ unauthorized use of the Situationships mark is likely to cause confusion, mistake, or deception among consumers.”
She also filed opposition to his trademark application, which the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ultimately denied in May 2025.
The lawsuit accuses T.I. of trademark infringement, unfair competition and civil conspiracy.
T.I. has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. His film, which he wrote and directed, has not yet been given a release date.
