Solid State Logic’s SSL Native X-Comp stereo compressor is now available for just $14.99, down from $99, in an 84% off deal exclusively available at Plugin Boutique.
The deal expires on March 31, 2026.
SSLNative X-Comp is a 64-bit-only release for macOS (AU, VST2, VST3, AAX Native) and Windows (VST2, VST3, AAX Native).
SSL describes X-Comp as a versatile compressor that delivers mastering-grade fidelity with an analogue feel.
The plugin can be used for anything from subtle dynamic control when mastering to brickwall crushing when you want to go ham.
SSL states that X-Comp can also reproduce the sounds of a range of modern and vintage compressors, including optical, FET, and variable-mu types.
The devs achieved this versatility by not attempting to emulate any particular unit.
They instead focused on including the features and controls needed to have X-Comp capable of covering a range of compression types.
X-Comp has been around the block a few times, as it originally debuted back in December 2007.
The original interface is kinda funny to look at now, as it looks a bit like Winamp.
However, don’t expect just a stock plugin from 2007 if you buy it now.
SSL underwent a big revamp in May 2018 for their v6 rebuild of the SSL Native lineup.
At this point, X-Comp got a completely new look UI, along with some technical and compatibility improvements.
As far as I can tell, the core audio processing of the plugin has remained pretty much the same, though.
Buying X-Comp now on Plugin Boutique will also score you the site’s free gift for March.
This promo allows you to get one of the following products for free: Zak Sound’s Deep Waters reverb (normally $39.00), Diginoiz’s Distiller filter/distortion plugin (normally $59.90), or a Loopcloud 3-month Artist Plan (normally $23.97).
In 2025, Audio Deluxe and SSL dropped their prices of X-Comp down to $10 and $8, respectively.
So if you’re patient enough, you may be able to get it at an even lower price than the current $14.99 deal at Plugin Boutique.
However, I don’t believe either of the 2025 deals came with a bonus gift plugin that Plugin Boutique is offering with the current deal.
So, if you like any of the three March gifts that come with X-Comp currently, then it could be the right time to get the comp!
